Project description

Minbleps, or minimum phase bandlimited steps, provides us with an efficient method of synthesizing alias free steps in digital audio systems. This method can be used to simulate the sound produced by 8 bit gaming devices on a modern personal computer. A software synthesizer that emulates the Nintendo Gameboy audio processing unit was created using this method. The software synthesizer can be controlled by MIDI and reproduces the square wave oscillators and the noise generator found on the popular Gameboy units.
