Undergrad Research Project - How much area is covered by public safety frequency bands?

Summer 2007

Jun Lee
Jon Peha
Project description

With inspiration from the 'How America's Fragmented Approach to Public Safety Wastes Money and Spectrum', and 'The need for fundamental reform in public safety spectrum and communications policy' by Professor Peha, a Ph.D student and I are working together to find out how many fractions of Pennsylvania or even the whole United States are covered by public safety spectrum. By retrieving the data from the FCC database, we will receive over one hundred thousand records to be used in my research. Using MS Access, and Matlab (planned to use), we analyze the data and plan to use GIS (Geographic Information System) to visualize the data that we collect and approach to the final result.
